HTML TUTORIALS: Ex. 1 - Basic HTML Structure Tags

EXERCISE 1: CREATING A BLANK HTML DOCUMENT :

The simpliest html document that you can create is one that contains only 2 tags. Those two tags are the opening and closing HTML tags.

<!---Type or copy the following code below---> (To copy the highlighted coding below, just highlight it with your mouse, go up to the top of your browser and click on Edit, then click on copy. Finally, highlight the text inside of the textarea box below and choose, edit, then paste.)
I suggest you type the tags out instead of copying them. Trust me; you will learn more if you do!

<html>
</html>

( After you submit, close the window that will pop up, and read below )

NOTE: CONGRATULATIONS! YOU NOW KNOW HOW TO MAKE A WEB PAGE!(simple and dull, yes! Yet, isnt it fun! Well, maybe not yet, but at least it's not as hard as you thought it would be.)

As you can see when you load up a page with only the beginning and ending html tags, it will show up blank, with white as the background color. The title of the window will show the web address of this tutorial followed by the name of the browser that you are using.

In the next exercise you will learn about the 2 distinct parts of a webpage; the head area and the body area
