Gay Economics 101

by Bucktowndusty

Putting moral issues aside, how economically smart is it for California's Supreme Court to legalize gay marriage? Let's do some simple math using a simple hypothetical word problem.

Suppose California had ten people living within its borders, and all ten were gay. All ten have jobs and pay taxes. Eventually, however, all ten grow old and die. How many taxpayers does California have then?

If you answered zero, you're smarter than four Supreme Court Justices.

Governments are in the self perpetuation business. Why they would promote policies that reduce this financial ability amazes me to no end.

Combine this ruling with the decision to allow abortions on a massive scale and I can see why I hear pundits constantly clamoring on about how we need millions of immigrants to fill labor voids (Question: How's this gay-abortion-immigrant trifecta working out for California so far? I hear California has billions of dollars in debt right now).

Sure, not everyone is California is gay, so after one generation there won't be a bunch of cats and dogs of deceased gay people – which were left their gay human's estates – running the government, but the ruling will indeed cause an eventual economic shortfall.

Some say that since gay people don't have kids, it will save the government money, but, again, what happens once they've spent that saved money? They're left with nobody to pay for more dog and cat parks.

God bless gay people. May they enjoy this life on earth like everyone else.

But, economically, this ruling is just plain gay!

When To Fake Ideology

by A. Hamilton

I listened to Rush Limbaugh the other day in my car and heard him say that the reason Republicans lost three congressional seats in Tennessee this year was because Democrats campaigned more like conservatives than did the Republicans.

Deceivingly, once Democrats are sworn into office they take an immediate ideological left turn.

And yet, Rush is extremely pissed at John McCain for campaigning as a liberal on issues such as immigration reform, global warming and eliminating partisan gridlock by "Reaching across the isle" to Democrats.

I think John is faking liberalism just to get into office and after he is sworn in he will take an immediate ideological right turn.

As far as "Reaching across the isle" goes, President Bush this week insinuated that H. Obama's naive and misguided belief that reaching across the ocean to Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad with some clever speech would make Ahmadinejad say, "Oh, you're right and we've been wrong all along."

Similarly, when McCain "Reaches across the isle" to break partisan gridlock with some clever speech, I hope he isn't expecting Democrats to say, "Oh, you're right and we've been wrong all along."

Rush should know; fakes and politicians are synonymous, especially during an election year.
