Anus & The String Bean

This week, the news media reported that Senate Majority leader Harry Reid threatened Republicans with working all night if they didn’t agree to pass a Democrat bill setting a date for the United States to run from Iraq. With the same breath he ordered beds to be set up in the Abu Ghraib section of the Senate chambers. This may explain why the Democrats haven’t accomplished squat since they gained control of Congress.
According to Encarta World English Dictionary, a threat is "A declaration of intent to cause harm: the expression of an intention to cause harm or pain." This means that Mr. Reid has threatened the Republicans with sleep deprivation, a form of torture.
On the other hand, Mr. Reid ordered beds. According to Encarta World English Dictionary, a bed is "Furniture on which to sleep: a piece of furniture on which to sleep, usually consisting of a rectangular frame with a mattress on top." (Emphasizing sleep)
Again, according to Encarta World English Dictionary, sleep is "A state of not being awake: a state of partial or full unconsciousness in people and animals, during which voluntary functions are suspended and the body rests and restores itself, or a period spent in this state."
If Mr. Reid, who appears to be in his anus stage of development, can explain this conundrum, then maybe he can explain the difference between an anus and a string bean.
