Do You Believe In Mass Movements?

In an interesting book “The True Believer,” Eric Hoffer states that a social revolution can be stopped by promoting a nationalist movement.
Considering this, and since America is currently experiencing an enormously large and fast moving social revolution comprised of millions of Latinos settling within America and demanding we tolerate their un-assimilating tendencies, it is only logical to expect Americans who value their own customs, history and traditions to counter this historically hazardous trend with nationalist efforts.
Someone recently told me that Latinos are really good people just like us. I won’t argue this because I love many I’ve come to know over the years. However, being good people is no justification for ignoring citizenship laws established by a nation. Being good people means little to national cohesion, either; just ask former Yugoslavians.
I consider some Latino people I work with good people. But, the following experiences I’ve had with them make me believe these folks hamper national unity:
- A local radio station switched to Spanish programming. Latinos laughed and said, “See, we’re taking over.” (Is “taking over” a friendly verb that glistens with that effervescent feel of Koom-By-Ya? Do we really want 20 million people moving in who feel they are taking what’s “ours” and replacing it with what they consider “theirs”?)
- Latinos demanded they get time off from work to attend last year’s immigration rallies where various foreign flags flew, and demands for more concessions from America reigned. Demands to attend this year’s rallies will surely follow.
- Latinos constantly use the racially derogative term “gringo” in front of whites, even though they’ve been told not to. They simply see nothing wrong with using the term. They are also constantly at odds with the black employees whom they seem not too keen for.
- The Latinos that have assimilated and believe in “The American Dream” are called Coconuts – brown on the outside, white on the inside – by other Latinos because their accents aren’t as authentic and heavy as theirs are.
- A surprisingly large amount of Latinos, even the ones that are now American citizens, state that they will be buried in their “home countries,” even after living in America for more than 15 years in most cases. (Imagine that; the dirt we Americans live on and call home isn’t good enough for them.)
Eric Hoffer continues, “There is a tendency to judge a race by its least worthy members…the character and destiny of a group are often determined by its inferior members…the game of history is usually played by the best and the worst over the heads of the majority in the middle…the inferior elements are wholly without reverence towards the present.”
It’s sad, but I’ve concluded that the character of many Latinos (and other ethnic immigrants of recent years, too) – not by the least worthy members, but by the successful ones that represent that vast majority of Latinos within America – is anti-American-tradition; Latino destiny is one of self-segregation and separation by their own choosing; and the proponents of massive legal and illegal immigration are affluent Americans and immigrants that have no reverence towards America’s past or present traditions.
The game of history is indeed in motion. I choose to participate logically, legally, and rationally, not be a sightseer on the sidelines of history, doing nothing, wondering how it all will turn out for people like me.

A Change Of Direction

The first five months the Democrats have been in power have produced absolutely nothing constructive; quit the contrary, they’ve relentlessly perused senseless, destructive investigation after investigation. The most recent is their attempt to erode our national pride by resurrecting old minutia concerning the Jessica Lynch and Pat Tillman episodes.
Friendly fire killed Pat Tillman – we all knew this months ago. Jessica Lynch was not a little girl-Rambo – we also knew this months ago, but the Democrats must chew on dead meat for lack of legislative talent. And, just in case there are those who still hold Jessica as an American hero, forget it; the Democrats want to destroy that image as they tried with the image of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson during the Clinton administration.
Further, the Democrats don’t want America to be known as a strong nation, (or even a sovereign nation when one considers their views on amnesty to illegals). Instead, they want the rest of the world, who hate us anyway, to see us as congenial, puffy, ball-less wimps with soft pink palms who don’t cuss, burp or have occasional gas. This is proved by their insatiable pursuit to close Guantanamo and the so-called, "secret prisons," and their comments at the presidential debate this past week where contenders voiced concerns about the United States sociopolitical status in the world.
"We are today internationally and domestically a nation that is no longer a leader," said New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson.
John Edwards said, "The world needs to see that America can be a force for good.
Their perception is that America is a bully and we only care about our short-term interests. The starting place is to end the bleeding sore, that which is the war in Iraq. "
Referring to ending the war in Iraq, Sen. Joe Biden said, "The American people are looking for us as Democrats." He continued, "They're looking for someone literally, not figuratively, to restore America's place in the world."
What the hell place are they talking about? Because of them the rest of the world already thinks of us as congenial, puffy, ball-less wimps with soft pink palms who don’t cuss, burp or have occasional gas. Now they want to surrender in Iraq and reserve a "place" where cowardly nations dwell.
Now they want ANOTHER direction and strategy in Iraq. Well, how about this for a new direction and strategy. I suggest that the Democrat-led Congress announce to our enemy, as they have announced all other strategies to our enemies, that we are in this fight to win no matter how long it takes, and we are going to kick their sand-soaked, flee-bitten asses.
That’s a new direction and strategy and it’s called, "united we stand."
